WORKING PROFESSIONAL DOCTOR OF PHARMACY
Since 1994 University of Florida's highly successful Working Professional Doctor of Pharmacy (WPPD) program has prepared pharmacists to become leaders in the emerging role of pharmacy in the patient care process.
Accredited by ACPE*, the UF College of Pharmacy has consistently been ranked as one of the nation's top pharmacy schools by U.S. News and World Report. Since its inception in 1994, the WPPD program has remained committed to providing an educational experience that equips pharmacists with the knowledge and skills they need not only to excel in the various facets of the pharmacy profession, but also to lead the practice of pharmacy to new levels of respect and efficiency.
PHARM.D. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
University of Florida's WPPD program is designed with these goals in mind:
- Educate pharmacists as flexible, innovative leaders in the pharmaceutical care and medication therapy of patients
- Ensure students become clinicians who can work collaboratively while thinking independently
- Increase the student's level of pharmacotherapeutics knowledge and upgrade their skills and credentials to the Pharm.D. level
- Instill in students a commitment to the lifelong learning necessary for pharmacists to remain experts in the safe and effective use and distribution of medications to patients
- Identify the challenges confronting the field of pharmacy today and in the future and determine effective means of response to these challenges and changes
