FINANCIAL AID OVERVIEW

Getting the Money You Need for School
According to the U.S. Department of Education, more than half of all undergraduate and postsecondary students receive some type of financial assistance to help them pay for school.

Financial aid for your education is available from a variety of sources, such as federal grants, Stafford loans, PLUS loans, scholarship programs, private sources, student employment opportunities, and sometimes even employer assistance programs. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with, and research all of the financing options available, so that you can determine what works best for your individual needs.

The following sections will help you gain more information about financial aid, answer your questions, provide you with resources for details about financial aid, and assist you in applying when you are ready.

The UF WPPD program qualifies for federal student loans as long as the student is enrolled at least half time (6 credits or more each semester) and in a degree seeking status. There are no scholarships or grants offered by the financial aid office for this program. All a student needs to do to apply for student loans is to file out the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and the UF School Code is 001535. The University of Florida is a William D. Ford Direct Lending School so no bank is involved and the student loans come right from the U.S. Department of Education. Everything is done electronically at the University of Florida through ISIS and email and your aid will start to process once you are admitted to the program. You will be sent an email notice of award with instructions when the loans are processed. Please keep in mind you pay up front in this program and the aid disburses at the start of the regular semesters here in Gainesville. Your aid budget will offer living expenses as well as tuition and book expenses. We will offer the maximum loan amount you qualify for but you may accept it all or reduce it or cancel it before is pays out.

For more information about applying for federal loans and any other financial aid questions please contact Mike Menefee or Adrianne Henderson and they can be reached at 352-273-6202 M-F 8 AM – 5 PM EST or via email at mmenefee@ufl.edu or ahenderson@ufl.edu.
