PRACTICE EXPERIENCE INSTITUTE
Reap the benefits of the University of Florida’s required WPPD Practice Experience Institute:
- Complete up to 10 required Clinical Practice Assessments (CPAs)
- Receive one-on-one attention to help complete your academic plan
- Meet WPPD professors and faculty to gain individualized instruction
- Network with peers and colleagues
The Practice Experience Institute (PEI) is required for first-year Working Professional Pharm.D. students to gain hands-on clinical practice experience under the direct supervision of University of Florida Pharm.D. faculty. The nation’s only Clinical Practice Institute for non-traditional Pharm.D. distance learning students, the PEI gives UF students a distinct advantage completing clinical requirements throughout their Pharm.D. program.
The Practice Experience Institute is hosted at least three times per year at our beautiful Gainesville, Florida campus. Attendees arrive in Central Florida on a Wednesday evening, tour the University of Florida campus on Thursday, and complete all clinical practice experiences by Saturday evening. Students can complete up to 10 required Clinical Practice Assessment (CPA) credits based on the hands-on learning accomplished at the PEI.
In addition to the CPA credits earned by attending the Institute, the PEI trains students how to complete other required CPA credits in their own local community later in the program. The PEI allows students to advance through the Pharm.D. curriculum with greater confidence that they have the experience necessary to succeed in a clinical role. As part of the program, the PEI gives you the practical foundation to become an outstanding clinician of advanced pharmaceutical care.
